When Jill was 16 years old she was involved in a tragic car accident. Her permanent head injuries made it impossible for her to care for her basic needs. For the past 16 years, Jill has received Home Health Care services through Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice.
Home Health Aides Becky and Ruth have been regulars over the years. They know how to fix her hair the way she likes it and even though Jill speaks softly they can understand her needs and requests. The aides also take her for walks, play trivia games for mental stimulation, and provide respite. Her nurse Lindy provides oversight of the care provided.
Besides the services she receives from Kosciusko Home Care, Real Services provides a case manager that assists with funding resources. Jill’s mom, Nancy has cared for Jill in her home since the first day home from the hospital. Nancy provides 24/7 care but shares that without the support of Home Health Care aides & nurses, she would not be able to keep Jill at home. Respite care is provided to give Nancy a break for a few hours a week.
Nancy also has two grown sons and 7 grandchildren. The home is very lively when all the grandchildren are visiting and during holiday celebrations. Jill has a very supportive family and friends that help her to remember the years before the accident through photo albums and special gatherings in her honor. Nancy and her husband have taken Jill on a few road trips in their RV and hope to be able to travel more with her in the future.
