KOSCIUSKO — In the beginning of 2019 two local foundations, K21 Health Foundation and Kosciusko County Community Foundation, both jumped on board to help Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice with a new, time-sensitive, project.
Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice has been serving the community for over 40 years with in home health care and hospice care. Recently, they found themselves facing new technology and charting requirements, with a Jan. 1, 2020 implementation date. This, in addition to their current laptops already being over six years old and needing to be updated, created a need to update their technology.
Leadership at KHCH reached out to K21 Health Foundation and Kosciusko County Community Foundation to see if this was a project that fell within their mission focus. Thankfully it was! K21 Health Foundation’s mission is to improve health and wellness for the citizens of Kosciusko County. Kosciusko County Community Foundation’s mission is to make donor dreams shine by awarding grants to charitable projects and organizations.
To accomplish the $30,000 project, the two foundations stepped right up and each granted $10,000 toward the total project, to be combined with $10,000 from KHCH’s operating funds. The total project provided new laptops to all 17 field staff members at KHCH. This contribution allows KHCH nurses, therapists, and social workers, to continue serving their patients well, while also following upcoming guidelines set in place by the state for charting and reporting.
Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice’s mission is “to make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve, to treat all individuals with integrity, compassion and respect, and to deliver the highest quality of home health care and hospice services to those in need.” Their programs operate in Kosciusko County and surrounding towns. Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice opened in 1976 and is the only locally owned Home Care & Hospice agency serving our community.
